journal – made to move

There are so many things I love about this little girl… she is generous and creative, wild and free. I love that she adores animals and carries her babies and stuffed pets with her everywhere. She tucks each of them in every night before she gets tucked in. She walks around reading books… only, she can’t really read but the stories she tells are beautiful! Her imagination is vivid and she is constantly writing. She paints her nails with watercolors and markers… reminding me that she will find her own way, even if I say no. If I had to choose one thing that I most adore about my creative, sweet, and kindhearted Amélie, it would be that she loves to dance. She never stops moving… ever! I especially love this because I remember being pregnant with her… she moved endlessly… non-stop, all day and night. When she was born, her tiny legs and feet just kept kicking. When she was just a little over a year old, she sat on the sidewalk eating an ice cream cone… she laid it down, raised her arms in the air, started “snapping” her fingers and dancing… but there was no music playing… she just dances to the beat of her own heart. She’s 4 ½ now and continues to dance… just because she loves it. All of her dresses are tattered… she wears them everywhere… even to climb trees or to feed the chickens! Most of her shoes have worn out toes… where she spends most of her time. Dancing makes her heart so happy and her eyes shine! I hope she always dances… just for herself.

Look what I found!!! A picture of her on that summer day… just moving and grooving to the sounds of the city and her own precious soul!
