Seeing God is easy for me… I see God in everything… in laughter that echoes, in the wind that blows… in trees that are firmly rooted – but yet, flexible. I see God in the raindrops that I catch in my hands… one drop at a time, and in the dirt beneath my toes as I walk barefoot with my children. The kale and tomatoes which grow from the earth, allow me to see God. I see God in new life as a baby inhales its first breath, and in the eyes of a wise, old person. I even see God in the hurting, as we experience heartache and disappointment, offering us comfort with open arms. I believe that in all of these things, God is pursuing us, initiating and celebrating us. I believe that this is how God reminds us of love and grace… These things give me encouragement and hope and joy, a sense of peace to foster in my heart and to share with others as they manifest in my own life.
Over the last few months, we have been gathering on Sunday mornings with our sweet and dear friends, to discover and discuss Jesus. This time together is so life-giving, creating understanding and fellowship. A safe place that we come to in our openness, sharing our hearts, joys, and even our doubts. We share life, the beautiful and the ugly, offering prayer and support. We are doing life together, and not only on Sundays. We gather during the week, giving love and encouragement, sharing meals or coffee, just spending time together. Our children are a part of who we are and what we do… they are right beside us on this journey. On Sundays, we include them in our gathering through scripture, songs and prayer… but mostly, through modeling a love for God and all people. As they venture off for kid-time, we dive deeper into our Bibles and discussions. Breakfast, coffee, family and Jesus… all together – pure goodness! I adore this community we belong to… and I love seeing God in everything!
